Plumber & heating use cases

  • Bathroom & kitchen fit-outs: Sketch the room, place fixtures, route supply and waste, generate the install drawing + parts list for the wholesaler.
  • Central heating layouts: Position the boiler or heat pump, place radiators or underfloor manifolds, route flow and return, label each circuit.
  • Drainage & soil stacks: Lay out waste runs and the soil stack with fall, export a clean DXF for the building contractor.
  • Gas line layouts: Route the gas line on its own discipline layer, keep it separate from water and heating in the same project.
  • Heat-pump & renovation work: Combine the new heat-pump layout with the existing radiator network in one drawing for the client quote.
  • Permit & quotation drawings: Generate the pipe-plan + per-discipline schematic PDF for the permit pack, or a clean 3D view to win the job against a Word-doc quote.

Why plumbers choose Diaz Editor

  • One-time €99 founding (or €997 regular Pro) vs an AutoCAD MEP or Revit subscription built for office BIM teams.
  • Real pipe (leiding) objects with diameter and material — supply, return, waste and gas each on their own layer.
  • Component library covers boilers, radiators, manifolds, valves, sanitary fixtures and drains out of the box.
  • Per-discipline bill of materials — water, heating, gas and drainage tallied separately for the wholesaler.
  • DXF export round-trips cleanly with AutoCAD, BricsCAD and FreeCAD shops downstream.
  • Local-only — client install data stays on your machine, no cloud account, no Autodesk audit.

Honest scope: Diaz Editor draws layouts, schematics and parts lists. It is not a hydraulic flow-calculation engine — pipe-sizing and code sign-off stay your professional responsibility.

Frequently asked questions

What CAD do self-employed plumbers actually use?

AutoCAD MEP and Revit MEP are the big names — expensive and built for whole-building BIM teams. MEP suites like Stabicad and MagiCAD add pipe-sizing calculations but are office-priced subscriptions. Most solo plumbers fall back to hand-sketching or a generic 2D tool with no pipe library. Diaz Editor fills the affordable mid-tier with real pipe objects and one-time pricing.

Can I draw pipe runs and heating layouts?

Yes. The 2D module has dedicated pipe (leiding) objects with diameter and material, plus radiators, manifolds, valves, boilers and drains in the library. Draw supply, return and waste on their own layers, label them, export DXF or PDF. It draws and lists — it does not replace a hydraulic sizing engine, so sign-off stays with you.

Does it handle drainage and gas too?

Yes. The utility/GWW object set covers water supply, waste and drainage, heating and gas, each on its own discipline layer with its own material list. Export a clean separated DXF per discipline for the next trade.

Is it overkill for a single bathroom or boiler swap?

No. Sketch the room in minutes, drop in the fixtures, route supply and waste, generate an install drawing plus a parts list for the wholesaler and a PDF for the client. Beats a hand sketch and is far quicker than a full BIM suite.
